About the House
Mayaguana House offers you peace and tranquility amidst tropical gardens and turquoise waters. We are located in Old Hooper's Bay, a private community about five miles from George Town. Situated on two acres well off the Queen's Highway, the main house overlooks our landscaped gardens, Hooper's Bay and Atlantic beyond. The property reaches to the shore with our small private beach called Granddaughter's Beach easily reached by a garden path. Plus you'll also have use of the adjacent Old Hooper's Bay private Beach Reserve. Both are perfect for quick dips in the sea, snorkeling our beautiful reefs, lazy beach lounging or creating magical sand castles. Native stone walkways wind throughout our gardens, leading to small patios where you can enjoy quiet morning meditation or evening sunsets.

Completely renovated in 2002, the main house features cathedral ceilings, a gourmet kitchen with beautiful views and including dishwasher, double ovens, gas cook top. Twenty-two feet of sliding glass doors across the open concept living and dining rooms frame our stunning view of Hooper's Bay and open onto our large terrace, which is partially shaded by a traditional Bahamian hip roof, creating the perfect spot for watching the boats sail by enroute to George Town or just relaxing in the breeze with a good book. A small office space with phone/fax and powder room complete the public rooms. The master suite at the east end of the house features a cathedral ceiling and is furnished with a king bed and hand-crafted Mexican tile tables, walk-in closet, large shower, double lavatories and private WC.

The adjacent guest house, also completely renovated in 2002, sleeps 4 in one large space, with one king and two twin beds, a sitting area, comfortable bath with walk in shower. The property is air-conditioned through out. Weekly maid service is provided.

The Tree House

We recently completed a second guest cottage, called the Tree House. The cottage has one bedroom with queen bed, fully equipped kitchen, bath with laundry facilities, a spacious balcony off the living area which has fabulous views of Hooper's Bay and the Atlantic beyond.

Upon reservation, we will send you a list of auto and boat rentals groups, fishing guides, and local restaurant recommendations. We have a local caretaker who will arrange for our regular taxi driver who will meet you at the airport.

The Environs
The Exuma chain is located approximately 150 miles south of Nassau. The main islands of Great and Little Exuma are quiet, slow-paced and peaceful with beautiful beaches and lovely people. The Exumas are world-famous for their superb bone-fishing waters. There are many nearby cays, which can be visited by rental boat for beachcombing, picnics, and snorkeling.

Transportation
The island can be reached by air via American Eagle (part of the American Airlines system) and Lynx Air from Miami and via Bahamas Air from Nassau. Once you arrive at Exuma airport, you will be met by our regular taxi driver and he will take you to the house for a small fee.
