Perched upon Virgin Gorda’s unique boulders, Boulderdash’s beachfront view is unobstructed by any manmade structures. As on a sailboat, you are one with the sights and sounds of the sea while enjoying a comfortable villa. You can sit back with your private view of our resident royal terns, laughing gulls, brown pelicans, and boobies while listening to the gentle surf. Your view extends to the giant granite boulders of the Baths, Devil’s Bay and Fallen Jerusalem to the south, across Sir Francis Drake Channel to our cousin Tortola and beyond to St. John and St. Thomas which appear like a small mountain range. With these islands as the backdrop, the sunsets are gorgeous. When you are ready to cool off, you follow a short stone path directly to the beach. Now you are on the beach of Little Trunk Bay. If you continue walking north, you will come to a path leading over a ridge. After enjoying the vistas you descend to the palm-lined beach of Valley Trunk. From the villa south, it is a short walk to the beaches of the Crawls and Spring Bay. For more adventurous guests, we recommend day trips to Gorda Peak, Anegada, Tortola and North Sound or charters to the smaller islands; Norman, Peter, or Cooper. But simply snorkeling among the boulders of Little Trunk Bay provides an underwater garden of tropical fish, stingrays and an occasional sea turtle. In 1978, Gordon Craig picked the site for Boulderdash because of its outstanding view from top of the boulders with the beach right below. With the architect from Little Dix Bay, he built a home that captured the simplicity of the island. The entire ocean side of the main building is louvered sliding doors that when rolled open give access to the spectacular view. Also in the main building is the master bedroom with a separate deck, large kitchen, and a vaulted grandroom with sitting and dining areas. Beside the master bedroom, there is a guestroom and guest cottage. The guest cottage, Boulderdot, has its own deck and view, sitting area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The villa has a total of three bedrooms with bathrooms. All the buildings are situated to catch the constant tropical breeze, which is a plus of this small island paradise. Most important are the islanders who love to share their home with you. You will be charmed by the genuine friendly manner, helpful attitude, lively music, tasty food, and kicked-backed lifestyle. If you are looking for a unique Caribbean villa in a gorgeous setting, Boulderdash is perfect for you.
