Imagine a Caribbean island where cows and goats have the right of way, islanders smile and greet you with "good morning" and the most difficult decision each day is which beach to visit. Virgin Gorda, a British Virgin Island, is eight square miles and has 17 magnificent beaches. Huge granite boulders on the beaches and in the water give this island its unique beauty. With no casinos or large hotels, this island retains the quiet charm of a bygone era. Sandy Bottom, a beach front villa, is situated on an acre graced with granite boulders and accented by a large variety of plant and wildlife. The beach of Little Trunk Bay is at your doorstep. Take the path 50 feet through the rocks to the "Crawls " on Thursdays to enjoy the local steel band. Further along is Spring Bay while five minutes in the other direction is palm lined Valley TrunkBay. The possibilities are endless: Day trips to Gorda Peak, Anegada, Tortola and North Sound resorts can be arranged for those more energetic. But simply snorkeling among the boulders of Little Trunk Bay provides an underwater garden of tropical fish, sting rays and an occasional sea turtle. Sandy Bottom has a simple elegance. This villa is truly an island home with large louvered windows, vaulted ceilings and a cool white interior. The home has two bedrooms and bathrooms and a grand room including kitchen, living and dining areas. Both bedrooms can be made up into either 2 twins or one king. Sandy Bottom catches refreshing tropical breezes making air conditioning unnecessary. Facing Sir Francis Drake channel, the redwood deck will invite you to relax and watch brightly colored spinnakers, million dollar yachts, laughing gulls, brown pelicans, and peaceful tropical sunsets.
